When Opportunities Come Knocking and You Close the Door

Have you ever had opportunities come knocking and you don’t open the door?

How many times do we wish for something, but when it shows up, we tend to ignore it.

How many time have you wished to have one good friend, but when someone calls you, you don’t pick up?

Or how about the desire to have a start a business and someone gives you an idea or suggestion.Yet, all you can think of is the hard work that you will have to go through.

I know that I have gone through some of the above examples.

I have always wanted to have my own business, but just the though of all the what if’s, oh my goodness. How in the world was I going to do it?

And of course, there is still the self doubt if your idea is good enough.

A few weeks ago, I decided to make cheesecakes as gifts for some friends. I also made some for our Thanksgiving dinner. I delivered the cheesecakes to my friends. About an hour later, I recieve a message if I’ve considered selling them.

I had tried in the past, but with a new born baby, it became very complicated. So, I quit.

After that message, I began to really consider trying it again. I came up with the conclusion that it wouldn’t be worth it because of the cost.

I kept replaying it in my mind. Maybe I should!

Or maybe it’s just not worth my time.

As I was driving to my parents house one day, I had an insperational thought. I wanted to have something that i could hand down to my children. I teared up in the car as these thoughts kept coming.

I got to my moms house and I told her everything. I followed by telling her that I was going to go for it!

When my husband got home from work, I told him the same thing I had told my mom.

So, I fearfully wrote a post to friends advertising my cheesecakes. I began to get orders immediately.

I chose to follow that moment of insperation. It has opened new opportunities for me and I do look forward to whats to come.

How do you know it’s time to open the door?

  • When you are tired of your everyday life and all you feel is stuck.
  • Those moments of inspirational thoughts. Those are thoughts that come to you as solutions. God gave you those ideas, don’t waste them!
  • If it makes you tear up, GO FOR IT! It’s your calling manifesting itself to you.
  • Sometimes a manifestation might be irrelevant to your desire, but it might just be the begining. So, listen!
  • Have you heard of the saying, “Don’t start things tomorrow when you can start them today.”? It is by far one of the best pieces of advise.

We are all a little scared to begin a new journey. Sometimes you just have to let that door fly wide open for those opportunities. All so that at the end we can expand and reach our full potential. All so that our dreams can come true.

I am not saying that it’ll be easy. I’m saying that it’ll be worth it!

  1. This is so very true! I recently spoke with my husband about something like this when I had the revelation that I should be working on and focusing on building my business as well. Good luck!
